I dont think so that ur Phone is EDGE enabled. EGDE is a technogy to boost up the speed of data transfer. If ur phone has EDGE it automatically works and boost up the speed. Airtel Edge speed up up to 100KBps.

If u dont have GPRS activated on ur fone call 121 and ask for activation. They will push the settings to ur phone via an SMS or u cal ask them for manual settings.

As I have almost 3 years of Experience with GPRS in India.... Airtel GPRS is the best one available.
