How many people commute into Chicago on the BNSF metra? |
Travel Info I'm curious as to how many people commute into Chicago via BNSF everyday? How many people can one train hold? Travel Tips I do, I know that on average each train holds at least 600 people, some trains only hold 300, some hold over 1000. The trains to Chicago around 8:00 in the morning are jam packed with well over 1000 people per train and during the afternoon commute there is a train that leaves Chicago about every 4-6 minutes, all of them being full. The trains in between and after rush hours often are moderately filled. The late night trains are usually not very filled. Others I don't know about that line, but I was on the one coming from Evanston, yesterday. Each car has 2 floors and I would assume hold up to 100 people. |
