This is a tough one...You don't want any parks, museums, or theater...You will find it hard to find a hill in Chicago - that part of Illinois is pretty flat and the lights of the city will dim a lot of the stars. But sitting, in the evening, at the Signature Lounge on top of the Hancock is an underrated activity and not known to too many visitors. Besides that, it is a big city...

I do have one suggestion, and it depends on the time you have and your transportation options...Make a 2-2 1/2 drive on a nice day to Madison Wisconsin and you will find a very unique and inspiring town. It is a "college" town but it has a lot of character. Sitting at on of the huge lakes you can see many more stars in the evening.

I am originally from Chicago and made the decision to move to Madison....so, I am biased. If you have a day or two extra, I would highly suggest the trip up here. As I said, it is truly a unique town, especially for the Midwest. Many people call it the "Berkeley of the Midwest" which makes people think it is a highly "liberal" town...I don't think of any town in the Midwest as being "liberal" really. But there is something about this town that does not seem like you are in the Midwest...or even Wisconsin for that matter.
Sorry but most of the "huge hills" in Chicago are located in parks. You can go to Cricket Hill in the park near Montrose and the lake. But it's usually a few people there playing around or smoking dope.

There's a little area behind Northwester University near their observatory building. It's near the lake and has a little stream running under a bridge. You have to go north and stay on Sheridan Rd. all the way into Evanston.. If you get lost ask someone where the observatory building is.

If you can drive, go to the Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, just a little nortwest of Evanston. It a huge area that has different gardens, You can walk up a hill to the oriental garden and look down over most of the park. In addition there are a lot of little secluded places in the gardens too that should inspire you. But hurry and go now; the weather is changing and it's not as inspiring when it's 40 degrees.

Actually, now that I think of it, you can take a bus to the Botanical gardens. Go to the main downtown CTA stop in Evanston. There is a bus there that take you right to the Botanical gardens. Ask a CTA agent.
