There's a few places on the near west side, maybe a block or two west of Halsted between Jackson and Lake Street. The Fulton Market area has a bunch of clubs and lounges. Do a search on www.metrmix.com for clubs and West Side.

Others
Don't bother with anything on the west side unless it's over by Madison Street anything past the United Center is ghetto. I would stick to places around Madison and over by where Oprah tapes her show there's more tasteful places to hold a bday party over there.
