What to do in Chicago on Dec 12-17 2006? |
Travel Info Going to visit the city with my bf for the first time. Is there anything we shouldn't miss by all means (like famous places or interesting exhibitions)? Plus we want to celebrate his birthday in some kind of a variety show or restaurant with a show programme. Thanks a lot for help!%) Travel Tips just to add to the others.. .the King Tut exhibit is at the Field Musuem... Lincoln Park Zoo (free!) and we be all decorated and lit for the holidays! Tommy Gun's Garage is a dinner theater set in Chicago during prohibition..I usually take out of town guests there... Shedd Aquarium is amazing..and the Art Museum... walk the Magnificent Mile...Michigan Avenue for very festive shopping... and of course the food!! Definately a deep dish pizza..(I prefer Giordanos...and a Chicago style hot dog from Portillos... Ed Debevics for a fun 50s style diner..great experience..lots of fun...for a romantic expensive dinner..the Signature Room on top of the John Hancock Building. Navy Pier will be having their Winter Fest.. (more for families..but you can walk through I believe for free and purchase wristbands if you want to ride some indoor rides and indoor Ice Skating. Have fun Others well there is the original Playboy Mansion!! Check out http://chicago.citysearch.com/yellowpage... It's a calendar of events. I'd eat stuffed pizza somewhere (i.e., Juno's), go to the top of the Sears Tower like on Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Walk through Water Tower Plaza. Walk down Navy Pier. Too much stuff to do. be sure to see Michigan Ave all dressed up for Christmas and go thru the stores. Then go to the House of Blues for a good show. Then go for some good Chicago style pizza (Lou Malnatti's or Gino's East) or you could go to Harry Carry's for supper. Go to the Illinois or Chicago tourism website. Have fun and dress warm. Try the Improv Kitchen (http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/searc... There's no other place like it. You can have dinner and see an improv show at the same time. Heres some stuff you might wanna see... Field Museum- King Tut Exhibit Navy Pier- Winter Wonderland Downtown Christmas Tree Shopping at Macys <3 Places to check out: Sears Tower John Hancock Museum of Contemporary Art Art Institute of Chicago Restaurants: Edwardo's Gino's Giordano's Rainforest Cafe Signature room on 95th(it's on the 95th Floor of John Hancock) Theater: I would go to Metromix.com to find out what is actually coming or currently running at the theater They have tours you can take or do a romantic carriage ride around downtown for a good $60 which is for an hour. |
