hate to say it, but if I had to pick only one place it would be Wrigleyville. 15 million bars, so if you get kicked out of one, you can always stumble down to another. And the women there drink as hard as the men, so the chances of hooking up for the night are very good. Wicker Park is cool, but there is so much attitude there. If you're not familiar with The Vanilla Moustache Conspiracy (or some other obscure indie band), then you won't get much conversation from the poser chicks who are STILL trying to outdo each other with the tattoo thing. Division street between Ashland and Damen has some nice bars. Also you could try Andersonville. Some nice, cool bars and a whole lot less pretense: this is where ADULTS drink.
