Chicago Has a lot of Catholics? |
Travel Info Chicago has alot of catholics..is that true? Irish, right? Travel Tips Chicago is one of the most Catholic cities in America. Irish isn't the major ethnic group, though. Polish, Filipino and Latino/Hispanic groups are larger and more devout in the Chicago Archdiocese than are the Irish. Chicago is actually the largest Polish population outside of Warsaw. The Puerto Ricans, Mexican, Salvadorans, etc are also a major part of the population of Cook and Lake counties. The real irony is that the Archdiocese of Chicago schools are considered one of the largest "school districts" in the country. They have more children enrolled (~102,000) than do most of the public school districts in the country. Others My bro who lives in Chicago is Catholic. There most likely is a significant amount, There most likely is a significant amount, there is a history of Chicago having a lot of Irish catholics which is one reason for the high population and also there is a high hispanic population in which a majority of them are catholic lived here my whole life, I'm a mexican catholic and my bf is an irish catholic haha Yup. Lots of catholics. The city's large Irish population is one of the primary reasons. But I think other religions like Judism, Baptist and Muslim may be closing the gap. Yes, it is true. I am Irish, was raised Catholic & grew up in the near Chicago suburbs. It's the Irish, in addition to the Italian, Mexican & Polish population. |
