Chicago gets Harsh winters?

Do you guys get harsh winters? Do you get lake effect snow? So you get below Zero temperatures WITHOUT the wind chill?

We get it ALL. some winters are not so bad, some are brutal. Sometimes it's a lot of snow with not so cold temperatures, sometimes it's so cold you could freeze to death waiting for a bus. I live near the lake and remember one time an old man was trying to cross a busy street and the wind from the lake was so strong he had to hold onto a light pole to keep from literally blowing away.Yes. In other news, bears do numbers 2s in the woods.

It gets very cold. We don't get much snow because we're on the west side of the lake, but it's still windy. Generally the worst month is late January, where it's around 10 degrees or so.

ok ignore these idiots answers above me. Chicago doesnt really get that much lake effect snow. most of that is on the other side of the lake and indiana. as far as below zero, we hardly see below zero actual temps anymore. we see windchills below zero all the time but actual temp, not much. Our winters are not harsh at all. dont listen to anyone who says otherwise. harsh weather is living up in the UPor even higher in Canada but we do see days in the 50s some winters. People who thinks its harsh are the people who live here their whole life and still dont know how to drive when its snowing only like an inch. Damn you people!
