Staying in Chicago or neighbouring area ...? |
Travel Info Hi there, I am going to visit a friend of mine in Chicago, and he is convincing me of staying in the Rosemont area instead of downtown since its cheaper and just 35 mins away by train. I want t to go out and enjoy the best of Chicago, resurants and night life, and was wondering if he's right and you can enjoy it by staying 20 miles away ! So for those who live in Chicago, what do you think guys ? Travel Tips Nah, you can't enjoy Chicago while staying in Rosement. You'll be out partying somewhere at a great bar or club and then have to take that LOOOONG blue line train ride all the way back to Rosemont. Not fun if you're a little tipsy and tired. Or even if you drive, you don't want to be on the road after partying and maybe drinking. You have two choices: either stay somewhere in the city and be only a short cab ride back to your hotel. Or stay and party in Rosemont. There are a few hotels that have bars in them and maybe there's a dance club or two, but usually they're spread out and you have to drive to each one. In Chicago, you can walk from one great restaurant to a great bar to a great club, etc., and still be on the same block. Others i thinks thats a good idea i live in chicago If you are looking to experience Chicago, Rosemont is not the place to do it. Find a less expensive place to say in the city (there are a few) you aren't saving enough money to miss out on a great experience. ur friend is probably right, the rosemont area is cheaper but if u want to stay out and enjoy the city u will have to find a different form of transportation home. a rental would be a good idea but u would have to deal with the hassles of parking. the rosemont area is considerably cheaper when compared to the way overpriced chicago hotels. Stay in the city! Rosemont is a bit of a boring suburban nightmare. Good luck getting downtown from Rosemont in 35 minutes. Plus, Rosemont is a no mans land of industry and hotels. If you really want to save money there are a bunch of chain hotels by Midway that would be a lot closer. There's nothing to do in the (somewhat dicey) neighborhood, but it's the same in Rosemont. There are relatively inexpensive ($75-100/night) downtown if you look. |
