Does Bubbly Creek (Bridgeport, Chicago) smell bad during the summer?

Travel Info
I am planning to purchase a townhouse right by Bubbly Creek in Bridgeport, Chicago but I have heard from others that the area smells really bad in the summer. Can someone who lives there confirm that? I would also appreciate any advice on purchasing a home in that area. Thanks.

Travel Tips
its a rumor that it smells bad because back in the day people used to run cattle underground and it used to smell. my dad lived there all his life and i suggest not buying a home there. it is a horrible neighborhood. have you even been there?? there are gangs everywhere, the school system is bad, economy isn't something to brag about either. i'm sure it's cheap to buy a home there, but look around. do you really want to spend the rest of your life in bridgeport. Source(s): lived there

Other Travel Tips
I would not be hesitant to knock on doors of possible future neighbors. Be friendly...they probably won't lie as you might be a new neighbor.
