What's the best bar in downtown Chicago? How 'bout the ESPN bar? |
Travel Info What's the best bar in downtown Chicago? How 'bout the ESPN bar? Travel Tips Depends on what you want to do. Unless you're really into sports, ESPN bar is a lousy place to hang out: expensive drinks, loud, crowded. Figure out what you want first. If you're into dancing, there aren't too many (if any) dance bars in downtown Chicago. The bars downtown are most sit-and-drink bars or sit-and-listen-to-music bars. Try Redfish near Marina City; there's a pretty decent crowd there, lots of music playing and you can eat something if you want. You can go to the Redhead Piano Bar. No cover, reasonable drink prices and live piano music. Andy's Jazz Club on Hubbard charges a cover, but he music is great - if you're into jazz, that is. There are a couple of other bars, but as I said, it's mostly just people sitting, talking and drinking. Go to the Metromix website (http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/).... Click on "Bars and Clubs" at the top and you can find just about every bar in the area. Others Why on earth would you go to a chain bar? Depends what you want the bar for. If you're looking for a good place to watch a game, then yes, ESPN Zone is pretty good. But if you're looking for a general bar in downtown Chicago, there are *so* many. If I had to pick just one, as a nice representative of good beer, I'd go with the Clark Street Ale House at 724 N. Clark. The excellent Blue Chicago is also near there. |
