Travel Info I may be moving there so im investigating. Travel Tips It's the gas bill that will kill you, not the Com Ed bill..... Others it really depends on how much you use it Cause I live in Chicago I'm saving money cause now that I have a car and my driver's license I go out and now I have alot of money not like 1,000,000,000 but at lease 1,000 If you live in an apartment expect your electric to be under $50. In a house it can be closer to $100. Your gas is a whole different matter. I was lucky enough to find an apartment that was only electric and it kept the cost down. But if you have gas heat, expect to pay upto $150 in the winter (closer to $200 or over in a house). Welcome ! It's the GAS BILL !! ,then lights. me. The average electrical bill in Chicago household is $60 a month, BUT that price is expected to jump by almost $14 thanks to a rate hike by ComEd that takes effect this month actually... The average gas heating bill for a home is $1,138 for Nov. through March in 2004. It's probably around the same now. if you plan on living in an apartment, it would be considerably less than this since there's less area to heat and you won't be running furnaces and clothes dryers.
