How upscale/upperclass is the area called "Beverly" in Chicago. It is located in Cook County. Thank you!!!

It actually used to be called Beverly Hills. There are even signs up in certain spots that look like the Beverly Hills signs in California. Beverly is a very historic area on the south side of chicago. Lots of Frank Lloyd Wright houses there. Very prominent people have come from here. It's home to mansions and smaller "baby" mansions. It's a very beautiful part of town that will make you forget you're in a big city. It's pretty upscale/upperclass area with a mixture of Black and Whites living side by side. it is a mixed area racially. prices fluctuate all through the area. look it up in the chicago papers here. chicagotribune.com or chicagosuntimes.com
It is a very nice area in Chicago and very safe. However, it has what I consider to be a 'suburban' feel as it has individual homes on larger lots.

If are looking for upscale and don't mind an urban environment, stick with Goldcoast or Lincoln Park.
I think it used to be a lot more than it is now, some streets are extremely upscale, and some are not so much in Beverly, just go up and down Longwood drive, mansions on one side of the street and sometimes really dumpy looking places on the other side of the same street, and it is pretty far southwest from the actual city, but there are five Metra Rock Island stops in Beverly. I grew up very close to that area so it is near and dear to my heart, I think it's nice, but my oppinion might be biased, don't get me wrong, just trying to be honest.
My parents just bought a house in Beverly. If I'm not mistaken, in the 1920s when that part of the city hadn't been developed, it was kind of like a Highland Park millionaire's row situation. It still has some of the old mansions, but there are average single family bungalows as well.
I wouldnt call Beverly upscale by no means. Its not awful, but there are much nicer parts of chicago. The gold coast is what I would call upscale.
