What do you HAVE to see when taking a trip to Chicago, IL?

Travel Info
My boyfriend and I are taking a small/ few day trip to Chicago, IL - if we do go, what are some attractions or places that we should definitely see ?????

Travel Tips
Oh, my. It kind of depends on the time of year. One of the unique things about Chicago is that it preserved the lake front. Along the lake you find the magnificant mile.--Michigan Ave. north of the river with upscale shopping. Then there is Millenium Park and the Bean (I think its real name is Cloud Gate) Then you come to Grant Park. Here you'll find the Art Institute which has the largest collection of Impressionist paintings, and now on the south end is a new area populated by headless sculptures. If you keep going south there is the Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum. Then there is Navy Pier which is a real tourist attraction. Farther south is the museum of Science and Industry, and the University of Chicago which includes the Oriental Institute. Tired yet? If the weather is nice I suggest an architectural boat ride. You can start at Navy Pier, or at the foot of the Wrigley building. I've only taken you along the lake shore. For more information I suggest you pick up a tour guide or map at the visitors center in the old water tower pumping station across from Water Tower place (a vertical mall.) Recently the city has developed a theater district. Many bound-for-Broadway shows do their out-of town tryouts here. There's so much more. I've lived here all my life and still have places I've never been to. Source(s): Personal Experience

There's nothing that you HAVE to see. Downtown have alot of nice places to visit.
Depends what you are into. Like the arts...try the art museum or Field museum. Maybe go to a show, like Wicked. Like shopping...then the Magnificent Mile is the place to go. Like fish...the Shedd Aquarium is good for half a day. Sports? Plenty of professional, semi-professional, and college sports going on. Try Rush Street, Millenium Park, Navy Pier, Sears Tower, Top of the Hancock....you won't hit it all in a weekend. It's really up to you what you are interested in.
Everything, the downtown area is worth seeing, although the shopping is a bit pricey. You should try to take the river boat too and walk down to the Museum, you will see the Lake of Michigan, sit there and enjoy the view.Chicago left an impressived memory to me and my spouse.
For your information, you can visit foodnetwork.com and search for tasty travel by rachel ray, I think she did a good job on introducing the places and food around chicago.Orelse, yahoo has a info on the travel section. Enjoy your trip.
