Chicago hotel recommendations?

I am looking for a hotel in Chicago. Preferably something upscale that is close to nightlife, shopping and good dining. Any thoughts?

There are several hotels in the northern Michigan avenue area. The knickerbocker for example is close to Michigan avenue shopping, off the lake, close to every fine restaurnt in the area, and you can walk a few blocks to the "gold Coast" where you will find more of everything you have on Michigan Avenue and all the good bars and clubs! Check all the hotels in this area such as the "W" , The Peninsula, Double Tree... etc...
