Best nightlife scene in chicago??

what is the best place to be in chicago for nightlife (clubs, bars, restaurants, also near beach) would you say wrigleyville, lincoln park, gold coast or whattt....ur input is appreciated. Thanks! Any streets in particular to live on to be near it all?? Thanks again.

Depends on how old you are and what type of music you like. 20s, rock, a little hip hop and the "frat" scene? Wrigleyville or the DePaul area around Lincoln.

20s-early 30s, indie music, alternative scene? Wicker Park

Club scene, expensive clothes, expensive drinks, expensive women? River North area.

Older, not so much into dancing, rather sit and listen to music and talk, likes older jazz? Gold Coast

Only interested in hitting on women, could care less about the music or live bands, etc.? Rush street

Of the entire group, I'd say Wrigleyville might be the best place to be "near it all". Not only do they have a ton of bars, but more than a few live music places, restaurants, sports crazy bars, a comedy club or two, all on a two or three block area.

Others
I like the budah lounge. The metro theatre also has bands every friday and every other friday late night djs. there are some cool bars around there as well.
There are a lot of great places to go close to the lake. Old Town (North & Wells) has some really cool bars and is where Second City Theater is located. Of course Lincoln Park is a no brainer. I

If you are looking for the younger college area, I would say Lincoln Ave. between Armitage and Fullerton.

If you are looking for a more late 20's-30's something, I would say Bucktown is your best bet (North & Damen) It is not close to the lake, but a lot of good bars.

Whatever you choose, you can not go wrong in Chicago!
