Chicago Attractions?

Travel Info
I'm going to Chicago this summer with a couple of my girl friends. We want to do something there that doesn't burn a hole in our pockets. Does anyone know of any good spas, R&R places, or waterparks?
thanks in Advance!!!!!!! --Kayla

Travel Tips
Time Out Chicago Magazine has a whole section on spas, etc. It's listed in their newsstand magazine and on their website in a section called "Chill Out)(http://www.timeout.com/chicago/viewsecti... Browse through it and find something that sounds interesting then give them a call. A lot of spas here has specials packages for newcomers. In addition, a website called "Chicago Beauty" (http://www.chicagobeauty.com/) has a pretty good listing of day spas.
As far as other cheap stuff, there are alwasy street fairs in Chicago during the summer weekends. It's a cheap way to hear live music, eat great local food and meet REAL Chicagoans, not other tourists. Check out the Reader newspaper when you get here; they usually had ads for whatever street fair is going on that weekend. Most only cost about $5 to get in. And there's always the city-sponsored events like Taste of Chicago, Blues Fest, etc. which are free to get into and listen to music (but you have to buy tickets to get food). Again, check the local publications when you get here to see what's going on. It's a little early to tell what street fairs will be scheduled on what weekend.

There aren't a lot of waterparks, if any, in the actual Chicago area (more a suburban thing). But, c'mon, we have a gigantic lakefront. Even if you don't want to get into the water, you can put on your bathing suit, lounge on the sand and watch people play volleyball, rollerblade, bikeride, etc.

Navy Pier, bikeriding (for 5 ppl @ 1 time..its cool), museums, sears tower, shopping, etc.
A nice reasonable spa is Thousand Waves on Belmont. It is not on the tourist track, but is in a nice residential neighborhood, Lakeview.

It is a women only spa, and their gift certificates have been a reliable gift for my wife. She likes it a lot.
