This is my first time visiting Chicago? |
Travel Info what r some things 2 see there? Are there any indian restaurants in Chicago, and how are the people there? Travel Tips Millennium Park, the lakefront, the top of the John Hancock building, The Museum Campus (containing the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and the Shed Aquarium), the Art Institute, and Navy Pier are a good start for first-timers. If you're in town during the late spring/summer/early to mid-fall, there's the Wendella boat tours that go down the Chicago River and on to Lake Michigan. There's also a thriving theater scene downtown and scattered throughout the City. If you're looking for Indian food in the downtown/Michigan Avenue area, there's India House (59 W. Grand), and Klay Oven (414 N. Orleans). If you're feeling adventurous, you can always head to the north side (Devon Avenue). The neighborhood is a mix of Indian, Pakistani, Russian, and Jewish. As for how the people are... I've heard out of towners call us either really warm and nice or conceited and self-involved. Just like any other big city. I'd suggest picking up a guide and a decent small city map. One guide that I'd suggest is Time Out Chicago (there's also a weekly magazine that you can purchase for what's going on during a given week). Also, try and get a CTA map. That can be picked up at either airport. I went to Chicago last April. This restaurant was very good. There were many Indian restaurants near this one and there are even more elsewhere in Chicago. Good luck narrowing them down! The people in Chicago that I met were great for the most part. I had one bad experience with a homeless man but it was not too bad. Just keep in mind that homeless people there are very very pushy. Udupi Palace Restaurant 2543 W Devon Ave Chicago, IL Map (773) 338-2152 Chicago is a fun city especially with someone you like to be with. The navy pier is great and the trolley cars take you to all the sites. We didn't go to an Indian restaurant but we did go to a tapas bar. It was fun , romantic and good food and sangria. I also liked that they had small groceries near the hotels, north of the navy pier. You could buy wine or just about anything and take it back to the room. I had a blast there. You can buy a little map that shows all the sites and restaurants, its worth it. Emilio's Tapas Bar & Restaurant So many things to see, but my favorites are the Art Institute and the nearby Millenium Park, downtown. And yes, there are many, many Indian restaurants in Chicago. One terrific neighborhood to look at - it's a bit off the beaten trail, but it'll give you an idea of the diversity of Chicago - is the remarkable collection of ethnic restaurants along Devon Avenue, near the intersection of Damen. One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Chicago is Tiffin, which is at 2536 W. Devon. |
