Chicago people - nice neighborhood areas? |
Travel Info I'm moving to chicago and I dont want to live IN the downtown area but I need to be close by because my fiance is a news reporter and will work downtown... What are the really nice suburb areas? Near downtown but just outside...any areas like that? Any sites I could check out? thanks Travel Tips It depends what you mean - if you want to be near downtown but not in it, check out neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and the Gold Coast (just north of downtown, from Chicago Avenue to about Irving Park Avenue, from the lake to Ashland or so). If you're looking at nearby suburbs, I'd recommend Evanston, Skokie, or Oak Park. Others Oak Forest,Tinley Park,Midlothian......just a few! family lives there Anything near downtown isn't a suburb... it's still part ofChicago. So are you looking for places within the Chicago city limits or outside of Chicago? if you're looking for places in Chicago, try Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville, South Loop, Greektown area, etc... If you're looking for something outside of Chicago, any area will do. The Englewood and Back of the Yards neighborhoods are very affordable options. :) Naperville is a really nice suburb you know oaklawn is a very good town, close to downtown shopping and it's family geared. |
