Where is the best nightlife in Chicago.? |
Travel Info I'm staying at Mather Tower on the Magnificient Mile. I'm traveling with my girlfriend, and we want a place with a bunch of bars, clubs, and lounges within walking distance from one another and within a reasonable cab distance from our hotel. Where do you all suggest? Travel Tips Well, if you're staying on Michigan Ave. probaby the closest nightlife area is the Rush Street area. There are a lot of bars, restaurant, lounges in the area. Jilly's for swanky piano music, Carmine's for seafood and steaks, Rick Bayless' Mexican restaurant is in the area, there's Mother's for dancing, the Underground Wonder Bar for live music, etc. Most of these places are within walking distance of each other. But it might be cool to check out a few other places that aren't as close to Michigan ave. and that you might have to take a cab there and back. But it might be worth it. Depending on the type of music you like, you might want to check out the Wicker Park area. Lots of bars that feature more "alternative" music (big tattoo and piercings crowd over there). Lots of restaurants too, all within walking distance. Or the Lincoln Park area on Lincoln Ave. between Armitage and Fullerton. it's more of a college-y, frat feel to the crowd but there are lots of bars on one street. There's also the Wells Street/Old Town area. You could take in a show at Second City or Zanies, then hit the bars or restaurants. Go to the Metromix Website (http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/).... Others I would try http://www.clubzone.com they have a list so long you get bored reading it, If I cut and paste it. Have fun |
