Chicago nightlife?

Im 21 years old and i live in new york city so i know all about night life. I wanted to go to chicago for my break , where should i stay at ( thats close to all clubs lounges etc), what places should i go to. does chicago nightlife differ from NYC? Im into house and hip hop music.

As far as comparing NYC nightlife to Chicago, I'd rank Chicago a little higher, only because they don't go crazy on the cover charge and there's less attitude when it comes to letting people in. if you show up and you're properly attired, you're in.

There are some pretty good hip-hop/house clubs around town. Probaby the best place to go is the Wicker Park area. There you'll find a lot of clubs like that in one place, which makes it handy to go from one club to another. I'd also check out Soundbar, Funky Buddah, rednofive and maybe Sonique.

As far as where to stay, just try to find the most reasonably priced place. Chicago has pretty good public transportation that runs all night long (not like NYC). And you can always catch a cab back to your hotel. They're usually sitting outside the clubs around closing time.

I suggest you stay somewhere near downtown or in downtown. There are plenty of clubs to your liking in Chicago, just google Chicago Night Life and I'm sure you can find something.

As to price range here, I think it's probably a bit less expensive than New York well at least less expensive than Manhattan.

I travel a lot and am from Chicago. NYC's nightlife and Chicago's differs a little bit. I think you would like Vision/Excalibur downtown. Also check out Sound Bar their lower level plays hip-hop.
I don't know your budget for this trip but I always stay at Westin hotels and they have one on the river across the street from the House of Blues downtown. Very nice hotel.

Ok I live in Chicago and go to NY often so here's my opinion of both. Chicago is more affordable, we have better pizza, clubs are good and plenty. New York their clubs stay open latre chicago clubs only stay open til 4am, very few stay open til 5am. Most NY clubs stay open til 5am or 6am. Ny clubs can be very pricey, they very selective about who they let it. There's not too much of that in Chicago. A few places you cab try are Green Dolphin, Transit, Funk Budha and Chromium. Look at metromix.com. You get all the info on clubs there.
Dude, you gotta try the Crobar on Kingsbury and North Ave. (northside) House music galore. Dope dj's, 7-8 bars. Just go, man. guaranteed good time.
