Others nope it is a safe dye No, the dye that's used is actually what plumbers use to trace leaks. That's how they first got the idea and it took off. dye is safe.. but i'm not so sure there are any live fish in the chicago river to be worried about.. chicago river was a sewer and waste dump for so long.. heck even as recently as dave matthews bus :-).. its still a bit scary.. Any fish that can actually live in the Chicago river is too strong to get hurt by some dye! Seriously, they use a harmless vegetable-based dye. It's cool.. I doubt it if they do it yearly, most likely food coloring. |
