Where is a good weekend place to go within 200 miles from Chicago?

Travel Info
Looking for a fun place to go over the weekend within about 200 miles from Chicago. Just the 3 of us - me, my wife & 14-year-old son. We've been to Wisc. Dells and also Springfield, IL. Our teenager is right on the verge of not wanting to go away w/his parents, so it has to be a fun place for him. Thanks!

Travel Tips
Lake geneva. I'd say the dells. Try to let him bring a friend or cousin, so that way he doesn't get lonley. I have a son, it's what I do for him.

Alton Illinois is a neat looking place to go, but it is like 280 miles from Chicago. They have haunted tours, a casino, Jack in the Box is there too. Google it and see what you think.
Wow, tough decision. I'd say Milwaukee. they have art museums, a shopping mall and waterpark downtown, a German-town area with beer halls, cheese shops, etc. There, the beer factory tours, the new ball park (Hopefully you go druing baseball season so you can catch a Brewers game), a great lakefront area.... lots of stuff to do. I'd try there. It's a sort of quaint big "little" town.
Starved Rock.
Indiana Dunes.
I know how it is with teenagers - mine are 16 & 18. Our 16yo daughter still loves come with us but the 18yo son - not so much. If you could manage to go a bit further - about 288 miles - Sandusky, Ohio is where Cedar Point is - a GREAT amusement park that your son will just eat up! Edison's birthplace is also there and there are lots of outdoor activities.

Anyway - within 200 miles, you could go to Blue Mound, WI and see the Cave of the Mounds, a beautiful natural limestone cave, then explore the surrounding area - Governor Dodge State Park and up to Spring Green where you will find the House on the Rock and Tower Hill State Park. You can go canoeing, hiking, biking, there are wonderful carmel apples at the House on the Rock! There is are also Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in Spring Green.

Another great place we like to visit (almost 300 miles though) is St. Louis! Almost too much to do and see there - the kids love it too.

Milwaukee is 90 miles away. You have the Harley Davidson factory, the Miller Brewery Factory tour (don't know if the 14 year old could go on it), Brewers Baseball and a spy themed restaurant called Safehouse which is a ton of fun even for a 14 year old and it is spy themed.
