Culinary shows in Chicago?? |
Travel Info My husband and I are taking a road trip to Chicago in July. We are looking to see if we can find any culinary shows we can get tickets to see. I am thinking Emeril Lagasse, Rachel Ray, etc, but I can't think of anyone in Chicago?? HELP?? Any other "can't miss" events I should know about? Travel Tips If you arrive before the 4th of July, you will be in time for the Taste of Chicago. Its a huge event usually finding about 3 million visitors per year. Dozens of restaurants have booths for purchasing almost any type of food you can imagine. Also rides and games for the kids plus lots of free concerts with big name artists Others I don't think there are any cooking shows broadcast nationally and taped in Chicago. I know the Food Network Show "The Hearty Boys" features two guys FROM Chicago, but I don't think it's taped here. Sorry. As far as other "can't miss" events, pick up a copy of Time Out Chicago or check their website. There are new events happening here every week, in addition to all of the permanent attractions like the museums, navy Pier, blah blah blah.... Now there are a few places that have cooking demonstrations/classes that might be fun. Hands on stuff. Try The Chopping Block (http://www.thechoppingblock.net/)... or The Wooden Spoon (http://www.woodenspoonchicago.com/).... Not sure if they have their July schedule up yet, but you can probably sign up on line a few weeks before you arrive. It might be more fun to actually learn how to make something, rather than just watch someone else do it. |
