Moving to Beuna Park...? |
Travel Info Does anyone know what there is to do right around that area? I know it is next to Wrigleyville and close to the lake. Meaning, will I be able to walk to some places? Or any thoughts on that area I'd like to hear. :) Travel Tips Beuna Park is what I call a 'cusp' area. Its on the edge of Wrigleyville, Boystown, and Uptown. Wrigleyville of course has Wrigley Field, home of the Cubs, and lots of trendy restraunts, bars and night clubs. Boystown is the gay area of Chicago, with lots of coffee shops, Night clubs, eateries etc. all with gay themes, clients, or owners... (its also the safest 'hood in Chicago) Uptown has jazz clubs, authentic ethnic foods, and crack dealers, homeless and crazy people. Buena Park sits in the midst of all this. The good thing: Chicago has great public transit, you can get anywhere from anywhere. There are cool sports bars, gay bars, fancy restraunts, hole-in-the-wall places, you name it within walking distance. There are parks everywhere, and of course the lakefront is one giant park. Its a cool area, because its quiet, but near the noise. Go out, but you can come home, and not mess with the crazy wild stuff... unless you want to. Very cool, welcome to the 'hood. Source(s): Not For Tourists Guide to Chicago (NFT Guides) www.metromix.com Other Travel Tips it's a pretty nice area just north of Wrigleyville. Not too large. It's sort of gentrifying right now. It used to be kinda poor-ish, lots of lower income families and apartment buildings that could have used some repairs. But as the overflow from the crowded Wrigleyville area started moving in, things are changing, for better or worse depending on who you talk to. A few buildings are turning condo, while others are being rehapped and the rents are going up. The Reader is a good side to see rental prices in the area (http://classifieds.chicagoreader.com/chi... Because you're fairly close to Wrigleyville, you're near a lot of bars, clubs, restaurants, etc. There are a few bars on Sheffield near Irving Park, over on Clark st., etc. It's within walking distance on a nice evening and maybe a $7 cab ride if you don't feel like walking. Most of the neighborhood is within a few blocks of the lake and the lakefront bike path, which is cool if you're into running, biking or rollerblading.... Truth be told, there are some pockets of Uptown/Buena Park that can be a little dicey, but for the most part it's safe. |
