What to do in McHenry Illinois.... with kids? |
Travel Info Hi there. Me and my kids (1&3) will be visiting McHenry Illinois and was wondering if anyone knew of some interesting, fun things to do there. We will be there in the middle of the week. Thanks for any info. Travel Tips I live in that area and they have a DinoRex facility in Crystal Lake (about a 20 minute drive). If you are visiting more towards summer there is the lake at Crystal Lake that is open to the public after Memorial Weekend. McHenry is right near the Chain of Lakes. Gurnee Mills mall is really big and about an hour drive but they have a lot of kids activities there (Bass Pro shops has a really large fish tank inside it and my nephews and niece love to go see it). Closer places are Gurnee Mills outlet mall, Six Flags Great America, and Volo Auto Museum and Antique Mall...that's about it besides shopping at the malls. Kohl's Children's Museum is in Glenview, Illinois. There is another children's museum in the city. Navy Pier and Michigan Avenue/Millennium Park will be fun for the kids. American Girl Place is on Michigan Avenue. Girls love that place. It has shops, a cafe, and a theater. |
