What are good location for a getaway near Lake Michigan? |
Travel Info Are there any good areas around Chicago / Lake Michigan that would be nice to have a short vacation at? I want somehwere I can go swimming at a (lake) beach & have plenty to do. I was looking at cabins & they;re kinda expensive & I dont think they're near chicago (30/60 minute drive from there would be ideal incase I wanted to enter the city) so is there any good areas to near the lake & such? Travel Tips About 100 miles from Chicago, East on I-94, there are a bunch of places on the Michigan side. Niles, New Buffalo, Sawyer, all have reasonable places for rent. I have a cottage in Sawyer. It's a very nice area. There is Warren Dunes state park nearby, and several marinas. Source(s): Me; Firefighter/ Paramedic for 12 years, father of 3, and married to an ER nurse for 11 years. Other Travel Tips Ludington Michigan. There is a great state park with lots of bike trails. Nothing like that is in Illinois or Wisconsin. Michigan has cabins by the lake. Ludington is not a short drive. Indiana Dunes, between Gary and Michigan City, is farily nice. |
