I'm a model in the Detroit area. Basically, this is a dead market. I want to move to Chicago. Any advice? |
Travel Info I've never been away from home and I'm not sure HOW to move...haha. I'm also broke. Any ideas for what I can do are appreciated. I just know that I have to do this soon. Travel Tips I dont know how the modle market is in Chicago! but , I do know that Chicago is better than Detroit. I been to Detroit, and it was horrbile, and sooo dirty and rundown! get out!lol I'm not going to lie. Chicago is a very exspensive city. Rents are higher than Detroit. If you want to live in a nice area, u will have to pay a good amount. I would go to Craigslist.com and see if anyone is looking for a "room-mate", it would be could to split the rent for now. And look for room-mates in the downtown area. I'm pretty sure, thats where the models go. I would sya go to Miami or Los Angeles, but thats really gettin exspensive! If u come here (Chicago), take the train or Greyhound, not the plane. The train is like 5hrs, but cheaper than a plane. Before, u come here, try to save as much as u can. you will need to put frist months rent (full) and a security deposit on an apartment, and u will need money to live off of until u start making money. I would save at least 3 months worth of living expsenese write it all out, estimate your rent cost, look at apartments.com, etc, to get an idea. Then estimate food cost (add an extra 50$ to what u spend on groceries in detroit) also go to yahoo.com and type in "Cost of living calculator" and it will show you how much u will need to live out here compared to Detroit. -Good luck!
