Best place to stay with kids in Chicago? |
Travel Info We are planning a trip to Chicago in early June. We are looking for an affordable place to stay. We have 5 boys so grandparents will be joining us...any suggestions? Travel Tips If you want something near the loop that's affordable, The Red Roof Inn will take care of you. It's clean and safe, but don't expect anything fancy. If you want to be in the suburbs, you'll have to tell us which suburb - Chi is a big place. Others That's tough. I'd look for a hotel in Evanston which is a safe, picturesque college town about a half hour north of downtown Chicago by train. I wouldn't recommend one of those cheap hotels near O'Hare airport. holiday inn is always a good choice. There are some other more expensive places in the city, but they are near navy pier and the lake front, so there is lots to do. The Embassy Suites at River East is a great place to stay with kids. The hotel is located within walking distance to all the main attractions. Especially to a place called Navy Pier which located along the lakefront. This place is great for kids and if there are other places you would like to see, you can catch a trolley from Navy Pier to anywhere in the city. www.877CHICAGO.COM Hotel rooms are expensive in the summer. For less than $90 per room, you can check into one of the dingy no-name motels located on Lincoln Avenue in the north side of the city, between Foster and Peterson. You're looking at $200-650 for the cheapest rooms downtown (unless you go to Tokyo Hotel, Red Roof Inn or a few others). Most downtown rooms are booked already. Neighboring Lincoln Park is cheaper. Use these websites to compare rates: http://chicago.hotels.com/chicago_hotels... http://www.chicagohotelservice.com/... http://www.chicago.com/ http://www.orbitz.com/ If you want to save money, you can go to the O'Hare airport area (Des Plaines, Rosemont - 20 miles from downtown) or a northern suburb like Evanston, Skokie, Niles, Morton Grove, or Glenview (about 12 to 18 miles from downtown Chicago). Public transportation is less convenient in Morton Grove and Glenview. You can find cheap rooms here for 60 (Motel 6 in Glenview) to 100. Days Inn, Super 8, and Motel 6 are affordable in the city and suburbs. Hmmm. U can try "The Purple Hotel" its in Lincolnwood,Il, its still very "urban", its between Lincolnwood Town center mall and Walmart on the otherside. Lots of other shopping and eating near Walmart. Crown Theater down Touhy Ave, and Lowes near "Lincoln Village", so u would be near lots of things. The Hotel is not fancy, but its decent for the price, and easy access to the City and other suburbs. Old Orcherd mall is not too far. |
