This question is for Chicago residents who take the Green Line.? |
Travel Info I was planning on taking the Green Line on the Ashland/Lake station to U.S. Cellular Field this week for a Sox game and wanted to know if the Green line would be better than the Red Line. Travel Tips Take the red line. It lets you off a little closer to the ballpark. The green line is about two blocks east of the red line stop on the same street. Either one is safe because there are always a ton of cops in front of the entrances before and after the games. And there's a huge police station right across the street from the Green Line stop. Whatever is most convenient for you. Others Take the Green Line at Ashland/Lake and transfer to the Red Line downtown (State/Lake) or at Roosevelt. The Red Line Station is closer to U.S. Cellular Field. It's not a long walk from the Green Line station at 35th street, but it the neighborhood is not safe. The Red Line is closer to the field than the green line. You can WALK to U.S. Cellular field from the Red Line. You'd have to take a bus, which is notoriously slow! You can just take the Green line. It is only 2 short blocks away from the the Red line station. I know this because I work in between the 2 stations and take the Green line everyday. And you do not have to worry about the neighborhood. While I would not walk around by myself at night, there are tons of people around during White Sox games, in addition to the students that go to/people who work at IIT. |
