Chicago Area Question - Winfield, IL - Nice or not? |
Travel Info I'm looking at a job in Winfield, IL. I'm curious about the area. Is it a nice area? What is a good nearby place to live in if I don't like it? Basically I just want to know about the area and it's surroundings. Travel Tips Winfield is a nice, suburban, "bedroom" community. The area has little crime and can best be described as "Upper Middle Class." The housing is largely single family homes in sub-divisions. There is limited retail shopping in Winfield but a large number of shopping options in the adjoining towns such as Wheaton. Public transportation is very limited within / between suburbs so you will want to have a car. Many of the residents of Winfield work in the I-88 corridor which has a large number of large white collar employers (NICOR, NALCO, Microsoft etc, etc.) in large suburban office buildings along interstate 88. Other Winfield residents may take the commuter train to work in Chicago (about an hour commute). If you are married with children, Winfield would be a good bet if you are single it may not be so exciting. Other communities with a short commute to Winfield would be Naperville to the South which has a thriving downtown area with great restaurants and small nightclubs, Aurora to the Southwest which is more diverse (economically and racially) and Saint Charles to the the Northwest an older town with great art deco architecture in it's downtown area. Because Winfield is part of a very large metropolitan area (Chicago) you should have no problem finding a community to meet your needs. Nearby cities of Warrenville and Wheaton are also nice. Winfield is a verynice suburb of Chicago. It is close to St. Charles which has some very good places to eat and drink. WINFIELD IS A VERY NICE PLACE TO WORK AND/OR LIVE. SOME OTHER SURROUNDING COMMUNTIES THAT ARE NICE TO LIVE IN ARE... WHEATON GLEN ELLYN CAROL STREAM GLENDALE HEIGHT WARRENVILLE AND WEST CHICAGO AND THERE ARE ALOT OF JOB OPENINGS AT CENTRAL DUPAGE HOSPITAL WHICH IN ON WINFIELD RD. IN WINFIELD. GOOD LUCK!
