Any greyhound stations near wrigley field? |
Travel Info i'm already going to a redsox yankees game in may and would love to see a cardinals cubs game at wrigley considering i'm from st louis. are there any greyhound stations near wrigley, or even better. how far is union station where amtrack is from wrigley field? thanks Travel Tips Union Station is downtown at Adams & Canal. From Union Station, the easiest way is to walk East (towards the lake) until you hit State Street. East-West addresses start at State, so when you get to 0 you know you're there. On State Street you'll see entrances to the subway that will say Red Line. Take the Red Line North - to Howard. Get off at the Addison stop and head West - away from the lake. You can purchase CTA passes at a turnstile at the station. It's $2 each way. Or, you can get 1, 2, 3 or 5 day visitor passes. They're unlimited for the length of purchase and are activated when you first use them. 1 day pass, $5 2 day pass, $9 3 day pass, $12 5 day pass, $18 Source(s): http://www.thelocaltourist.com/transport... http://www3.yourcta.com/product.asp?cata... Other Travel Tips The Greyhound station is in the south loop, I think on Harrison street at Halsted. The Amtrak station is in Union station, about 4 miles to Wrigley. A cab would cost about $20. You could take the el which would be pretty easy to do. The el is on state street downstairs, Wrigley is at the Addison street el stop. DO NOT TAKE GREYHOUND (well unless you want to stand) or get stranded -for alternate service from St Louis, take megabus instead (in fact their terminal *is* Union station in Chicago (and they dept St Louis at their Union station http://www.megabus.com/us/ at least with megabus you will able to get a seat (Greyhound has left me stranded -even one time they broke down on a freeway and they didn't told us to walk to the next city! ON THE FREEEWAY? they never sent a rescue bus oh they said they did but it never came turns out the dispather never set the bus because he thought the driver could fix this bus himself! FIRST THING .... get a ticket to the game....you will NOT be able to buy one game day or at the park....Cubs / Cards sell out fast! take the amtrak to Union Station in Chicago; cleaner and faster than GreyHound. Exit union station from Jackson Street exit; go east (towards the lake - anyone will point you the right way) to State Street (the GREAT street!) There is a RedLine subway station just north (to your left) of Jackson. Take the northbound (Howard) train. Will cost you $2 for the subway ride - get your fare card from a machine there underground. Take the train, again, north. Get off at Addison (the third stop above ground - Fullarton, Belmont, Addison). Exit the EL to Addison Street...follow the crowds west about a block to the park. go easy on the beer....enjoy watching the Cubs whip up on the Cards!! :) There is only one Greyhound station and it's on Harrison in the S. loop. And it's sooo ghetto. Anyway yeah be sure to get tix first then head up to Chicago then just take a taxi. Fresh Prince of Bel Aire style. |
