Chicago lincoln park? |
Travel Info If I rent a studio apt right across from the lincoln park zoo, is that a good night life area? Near bars, clubs, etc. Also, how about the beach and a gym or tennis courts? How bad will parking be? Is it close to lake shore drive? Let me know what you think? Thanks. Travel Tips I think a 23 year old would love that spot! The beach is right on the other side of the zoo, and in the summer there is a gym right there on north beach. It is one of these pick up spots in Chicago. There are tons of bars and night life in the area. you could walk to the famous Division and Rush aream, and it would be a cheap cab ride home. But you are close to De Paul too, to have the college type bars too. Parking will be a pain, but you will live there and can get a local sticker, allowing you to park in the neighboor hods. I still could drive for 30 minutes looking for a free spot, but it was cheaper than owning a spot! You are also fairly close to public transportation which is super easy in Chicago to get to any part of the city. This is a great choice for a young guy! Otherwise, look in Lakeview/Wriglyville area (they but against each other) and are very common areas for young people to live. Source(s): Former just out of college-single-city dwelling gal! Other Travel Tips Very easy to get downtown from there, on the #151 bus. Near lots of little college type bars on Clark street Lincoln Parks' nick-name is Lincoln No Park so good luck on that one. It is as close to lake shore drive as you can be without living on the exit ramp. You'll be right in the mix of a ton of bars and clubs and restaurants, etc. The beach is about two or three blocks away. The nearest gym might be the Bally's Total Fitness at Clark and Diversey, a short bus ride away (or if the weather is nice you could actually walk). Can't think of any tennis courts in the immediate area. The nearest ones are near Irving Park. You could ride a bike from your apartment over to the lakefront bike path, then ride the bike path north and it'll take you right there in about 15 minutes. Parking will be murder, so if you have parking in your building, take it. Lincoln Park is a highly congested area and parking will be extremely difficult. You could probably park on Clark street in front of a meter, but you have to feed the meter until 9 p.m. and then get up and move your car before 8 a.m. It is a wonderful place to live with great views. Parking will suck unless you can rent through your apartment. Everything in that area is either walking distance, or available via the CTA or cab. Great place to live. Good luck! Lake shore Drive is right there. There is plenty to do, tons of bars clubs, etc. The beach is a few blocks away and there are plenty of gyms. As far as parking, if you want to live there I recommend paying for a spot or selling your car As everyone else has said, parking is going to be horrible, unless you rent a spot. The beach is very close, you can even walk it if you'd like. The bars in Lincoln Park are full of a college crowd that can be fun, the music scene in Wicker Park is a $5 cab ride away, and the el isn't far away either (you can take the red line to both Sox and Cubs games). The bars in Lakeview can be a ton of fun too, which is only a $5 cab ride away, or you can just take the clark street bus there. In summary Location=great, parking = putrid. |
