I am taking a family vacation to evanston, IL the first week of july. Any hotel recommendations? |
Travel Info I have 3 small children. I would like to be close to chicago childrens museums, zoos, and other children related activities. the hotel does not have to be fancy. a chain would be fine. A pool would be nice, as well as a free continental breakfast. Others If your looking for Hotels in Chicago I recommend the Best Western, The Majestic Hotel, The Willows Hotel which are all close to Lincoln Park, Chicago History Museum, Elks National Memorial and Headquarters, Lincoln Park Conservatory, Lincoln Park Zoo and Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum Evanston is only a half hour away which i'm sure you knew already. AAA Travel Agent first week of July is a very very crowded time to go. Taste of Chicago is right by the museums and packed out and all the good museum shows will be sold out. Buy all tickets and extra museum shows in advance (or it will all be sold out nearly when you get there). You might not even get in the museum. On top of this about 2 million people ? end up near the lake for fireworks on July 4th (you'd want to chain your kids on you for sure). Evanston to Chicago museums is 45 minute trip driving, more by train (though cheaper if you walk and take no cabs.) Taking a cab from Evanston to museums is usually out of most folks price range, and the parking will be a huge problem during the Taste. Save yourself the pain and visit Chicago another time this summer... the Orginton hotel it nice. its in down town Evanston. I'd recommend the Orrington.... |
