Chicago is not little NYC, why do people from Chicago call it a cleaner NYC?? |
Travel Info Chicago is Berlin, Germany. Spread out, and cold! It doesnt have the density, public transport, diversity, food, and entertainment of Nyc. Its not even close. But whenever I am in Chicago, dont get me wrong, its a great city, But its no way close to Manhattan. The women are not as beautiful as Manhattan and the people are not as excitable as new yorkers. People from Chicago are very proud of their city, as they should be. But they should realize its a far 2nd from Manhattan Travel Tips i agree, you can't compare the two, but there is a lot more to chicago than you're making it seem. granted, it's not NYC and NY is a city like no other, but no other city is like Chicago. there is a diversity there just like NY or LA and the food is great! shopping ain't bad either. i'm not from either city, but i like them both, for what they are. just like there are things you can find in NY and no where else, there are things in Chicago that you cannot find in NY. also, as for the women, it's all a matter of opinion. if you like high fashion, of course NY is the way to go, but not all men like tall, skinny high fashion models/snobs. Others hey i live in manhattan mind you and nyc is very clean!....mostly.. I spent two days in Chicago once. During the day, the city is a very very nice place to be. BUT... when I went out at night, I swear on everything I find holy, there was a PARADE of rats, crossing the road. Maybe a few blocks from the Sears Tower. It was an intersection that was built overtop of a water structure... like, a man-made river. I don't know what you'd call it. Anyway, yeah. Parading rats. The size of footballs. that's why its called the Second City. i'm originally from NY, live in Baltimore, been to Chicago twice. Both times I had an awesome time. I love Chi-town! great people, great bars & restaurants, great music. the football team is ok, but not the best! j-e-t-s! jets jets jets I've never heard any TRUE Chicagoan call the city a "little NYC". Maybe some of the newcomers here, the college grads who move here from Indiana or Wisconsin or Iowa and have only been here for about three or four years. But true Chicagoans never consider Chicago a little version of NYC and in fact, go out of their way to NEVER compare anything about the city to NYC. That being said, the public transportation is better here than in NYC even with all of our current problems. Try catching a subway train in downtown Manhattan 2 or 3 in the morning...forget about it. And as for not having the population density of NYC.... GREAT! I've been there and people are falling all over each other. At least here we've got room to move. Foodwise and entertainment wise, we're as good as NYC or better. More and more top chefs are opening restaurants here and - surprise - you can actually go there on a Saturday night and get served. Entertainment is just as great here. In fact, I'd say more original bands have been signed out of Chicago in recent years than NYC. And Chicago bars stay open until 4 a.m. on weekdays and 5 a.m on weekends, something you don't find in much of NYC. The women thing... that's an opinion. But I'd give NYC a slight nod on that one only because it's a modeling center of the country as well as a bigger tourist destination. Most of those beautiful women you see there are either coming or going out of the city. They don't live there. Again, real Chicagoans don't even both to bring up NYC in discussion. But yes, Chicago is cleaner. Much cleaner. And NYC gets just as cold... Chicago has beautiful parks, tourism sites, theatre and entertainment, an other elements that New York has. In terms of American metropolitan areas, Chicago is very much like NYC. I've lived in both areas and I do like both of them. Chicago is like NYC on a smaller scale. |
