HEELP:) Chicago cabs/taxi info, anyone? |
Travel Info How expensive is it to take a cab in Chicago? 1.-within downtown, like from Excalibur club to Union Station; 2-from downtown clubs to suburbs? Is it like $10-15 or $75:) Any good, SAFE, reliable taxi companies that you could recommend for taking late, late at night -like 5am on weekends? Do they come quickly? Travel Tips Man on the street is right about the fares. Depending on the time, it should be less than $10 though. If you're going from Excalibur to Union Station, be sure to tell them to take Wacker Drive! You don't need to worry about the cab companies being safe. They're all regulated. Speaking of which, they are required to accept credit cards, but many will say they don't because they don't want to pay the fee! I wouldn't take a cab out to the suburbs. That WILL be expensive. However, the train (Metra) doesn't run all night. If you leave the club at 5am, grab some breakfast at a place like Tempo and take an early morning train back. Other Travel Tips Excaliber to Union Station shouldn't be that expensive; about $10 (depending on how traffic is around that area that particular night. It's pretty congested and the cabs charge by the mile and time. From downtown to the 'burbs depends on what suburb you're talking about. From the Chicago Tourism website The 鈥渇lag pull鈥?or initial charge is $2.25 for the first 1/9 mile. The additional fraction of a mile charge is 20 cents for each additional 1/9 mile. Every 36 seconds of time elapsed is 20 cents. The flat fee for the first additional passenger is $1.00; the flat fee for each additional passenger, after the first additional passenger is 50 cents. http://www.choosechicago.com/maps_1.html... Taking the train in and them cabbing it from whereever you are to Union Station is probably the best bet, but might be pricey. But then again I used to go out to Aurora a lot and on Fridays when I was coming back into the city to go home, there were people on the train coming into the city to party. They were boozing it up on the train to "get ready". Not sure when the last train leaves, but you may want to check that first. Not sure where youre coming from but Chicago is pretty safe and it's not likley a cabby will rip you off...Any cab will do while youre in the city. Dont take a cab from chicago to the burbs --- Thats expensive. Try the el or the trains. If it's a weekend you can buy a $5 weekend pass right at the station.
