Would you sleep over night at Chicago's Midway airport?

Travel Info
I'm arriving at 1am and the car rental places are closed at that time. So I either have to get a hotel room at over $100 for a few hours or I can remain at the airport and scout out a place to catch a nap. I've done this at other airports before, but never this one and never with my wife. What do you think?

Travel Tips
I got stuck there once with my sister because of weather, and ended up having to spend the night. We traded off sleeping, one kept watch on our stuff while the other slept. I wouldn't bother spending the money for only a few hours, even if the hotel is right at the airport, you'll still be wasting time checking in, settling in, etc... and it really wouldn't be worth your time. A lot of things stay open, and the seats aren't that uncomfortable, IMO.

It would depend on how "few" those hours are. A hotel room cost doesn't seem practical at all. If stuff is open at the airport, you could eat breakfast and browse the shops. Would there be anything open in Chicago at that hour? You might consider taking a taxi and checking it out. It would be better than sitting in those "comfy" waiting room seats.
Midway is not that bad, you could save yourself a little money and just sleep there. My husband and I did it while waiting for our flight. In all reality nobody is going to bother you and they don't really care. They usually mind their own business. I hope that i can be of some help.
I agree it does depend on how long you are talking about. Thankfully I have never had to sleep in an airport, so I am not 100% sure but I am willing to bet that the Police will not let you sleep there overnight.

If you want my opinion you have no alternative but to get a hotel room.
I would sleep there, just kinda sleep on your bag as a pillow so nobody walks off with it!
Also at that time the airports are not that crowded, and also Midway has extra security there. Try maybe even checking out some of the exhibits such as Butch O'hares plane and other items in the airport! That might occupy some of your time if you are not able to sleep!
Also I would check with your wife on sleeping in the airport since she may not be up for it.
There is a few bars also and I know that there was one that we went in a back booth (it was huge) and slept there with nobody around since our plane was delayed like 7 hrs.
Hope this helps.
I agree that by the time you get to a hotel, get checked in, and ready to sleep, you'll just about be ready to get up and head back to the airport again.
Since they remodeled Midway a few years ago, it is pretty nice now. I have slept both at Midway and O'Hare in the past. The easiest way to sleep in an airport is to bring an old lightweight blanket, lay it on the floor, then lay on top of your stuff so no one steal it while you are sleeping.
Good luck, hope your wife goes for it :-)
My first thought was...will they let ya sleep there, or will security boot you out?..but if youre gonna sleep there for four-five hours, whats the big deal..I think theyd let you sleep there. As far as whats open, I once got off a plane there at 10:30 P.M. and almost all their shops and eats were closed by that time. And feeling safe..well, the area is good, and theres security in that airport, I always see 'em walking around. Ask a security person where ya can get coffee/snacks in the airport at that hour..cops and security always know where to get coffee!. lol

Have fun. Is this youre first time in Chi?.. hope you have a great time.
