Which ones of these Chicago neighborhood have the best potential to become "up-and-coming"? |
Travel Info This is the list of neighborhoods: North Lawndale South Lawndale New City/Back of the Yards Roseland West Pullman Englewood West Englewood Morgan Park Auburn Gresham Greater Grand Crossing Austin West Garfield Park Fuller Park Thanks! Travel Tips I'd have to go with Back of the Yards due to its proximity to Bridgeport, and West Garfield Park, due to it being near the Garfield Park Conservatory and the rapidly gentrifying East Garfield Park. I keep thinking that Austin will turn around since it's so close to Oak Park, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Others out of the options I would say my opinion would be Garfield Park I work in north Lawndale and I have seen a lot of development in just the past year. (New businesses, condos going up.) It's definitely gentrifying. But it has a long way to go before I'd describe it as "up and coming". I don't have too much experience with the rest besides having been to most of them once or twice. I grew up in West Garfield Park. It went way down hill in the 60s and stayed that way for 30 years and I was back there last September for a school reunion and the old neighborhood is being rebuilt. Many new investments and the old two flat houses are being totally re-done. Great place to invest. Englewood has the worst reputation in the city. When you're at the bottom of the heap, you have no where to go but up......eventually. |
