Is it smart to take Stony Island from the Skyway to Lakeshore to avoid the Dan Ryan in Chicago? |
Travel Info I'm trying to get to Moody Bible Institute Travel Tips Yeah, it might be a good idea. Stony Island is pretty big and wide open and the stoplights are space far apart so you can fly right through. It's easy to get from there to LSD (lake shore drive) and from there it's a straight shot to the Institute. In fact, it might be easier to take that route even if there WASN'T construction on the Dan Ryan, seeing as how you'd probably have to get to LSD eventually anyway. You'll have to exit at Chicago Ave. and to do that you'll have to be in the far left lane of LSD (if you're driving north). Depending on the time of day it can be a little crowded and slow-going moving down Chicago Ave. (it cuts right through the middle of the Michigan Ave. shopping district), but it's pretty much the easiest way to get there. Others I often traveled from Indiana to Chicago, and Stony Island saves time with all of the contruction on the Dan Ryan. Take Stony Island to LSD, turn left. Follow LSD into the city, and turn left onto Chicago Avenue (first turn after passing Navy Pier bridge.) Take Chicago to LaSalle, and turn right for Moody. Former commuter If you can avoid the Dan Ryan, I'd do it. This route will save you time, and it's a much more scenic route. Definitely!!!! I took that route many times last summer going back and forth to Indiana. I would avoid the Dan Ryan at all costs. |
