Travel Info What are the places to avoid in chicago? Travel Tips South side past Hyde Park to 95th st. That's about 47 to 95th st. Englewood area is one of the most deadly neighborhoods in the country. People compare it to South Central L.A. The West side west of California avenue is heavily infested with street gangs. Mind you, you could drive through any of these neighborhoods during the day, but at night I would avoid it unless you are bullet proof. Others The South Side, basically east of I-90/94 toward Gary. South side, West side, and any other place that doesn't look nice!!! Trust me. The above answers are correct, although the near West side isn't too bad. One place that's overhyped and not worth the expense is Navy Pier. http://www.ctastories.com i went to school on the south side. avoid it. please. the west side has gotten a lot better, but i suggest you don't go any farther west than east humboldt park. South side is bad! It might be cheaper but is not a good living, specially if you have children. |
