Going to chicago ?

I will be going to chicago this month end on a work related assignment and will be staying there for 2-3 months,can anyone give me an idea about how chicago is is,weather wise,transportation etc and if possible what are the places to see...any suggestions on where to shop to get good bargains will also be very useful..thanks for the help

Travel Tips

It will be warm to hot. July and Aug are the hottest. Some summer days are humid, some arent.

Chicago has the elevated train, called the 'L'..it can take you all over the city...the names of the trains are 'colored'.. the Red Line, the Orange Line, etc.

For bargains..State Street and one block over, Wabash, have stores that arent as expensive as those on Mich Ave.

Places to see...oh theres many. Since youll be there for two-three months, get out and explore and see the city. Theres museums, Wrigley Field, Lincoln Park Zoo [its free], The Art Institute, The Chicago Board of Trade, theatres, Lake Shore Drive, beaches, biking n' walking the lakefront...on and on.

Get yourself a good map of Chicago.

It's Cold and a-lot of stores.
It will get warmer and more humid. More rain. Transportation is good.Go to Navy Pier, downtown. Museums at 12th and Lake Shore Drive. Museum of Science and Industry at 55th and Lake Shore Drive. Many restaurants down town and shopping. Trains run to suburbs from down town station..

Weather: go to weatherchannel.com and click on the monthly averages.(This will give you some idea).
Shops: anything on the Mag Mile will do... There is everything from Brooks Brothers to Apple Store
Transportation: there is a subway and above ground train system. They travel throughout the city and to the airport. Taxis are good, its a 2.00 fee for first mile. And airport to city is around 40.00 dollars.
