Travel Info
I will be going to college up there.... I would like to know whats the best part of town to live in? As for jobs i work in the healthcare field now are there many Hospitals around??

Travel Tips
I'm hoping you'll be going to school at the University of St. Francis, as I'm also a student there. There are private apartments just two blocks from the school, and as someone else noted, the West Side of Joliet and Crest Hill are two great places to live. Provena St. Joe's hospital is the close by, as are MANY doctor's offices (it's like a 3 block area of doctor's offices there). Also Silver Cross hospital on the East side is a very good hospital, again, with many doctor's officew actually in their complex.

As far as shopping and entertainment - Joliet is now bustling with fun things to do. There is Chicagoland and Rte. 66 Speedways where the "big names" in NASCAR race, Splash Station Waterpark, a Movies 8 and Movies 10 theaters, a large Mall (Louis Joliet Mall), many great restaurants, the Rialto Square Theater where many big name acts come - all of this within Joliet! Please visit the webpage below, and it will better inform you of life and fun in Joliet.

Good luck with school and the move! Source(s): http://www.visitjoliet.org/index.html...
Other Travel Tips
Since i dont live there, i cant tell you about the best part of town etc.

Joliet is an older city , and its now being discovered by more and more people, its having quite a population boom. As far as i know, Joliet is still considered affordable..which is probably a reason many are moving there...prices of houses in some 'burbs out there have gotten crazy, but in Joliet i think you can find a nice house for under 300 hundred thou.

It would be a rather long drive to downtown Chicago though if you wanted to go there on the weekends while in college..[and traffic can really be awful].. but theres plenty of things to do in the suburbs too. Youre young, do you like shopping?.. if so, youd love Woodfield Mall..its huge...check it out on the net.

As for hospitals, because of the growth out there, Im sure there are plenty of hospitals out west and southwest now..I bet you could find a job out there.

Look on cityofjoliet.info....lots of information there.

Good luck with college and job hunting!
There are two hospitals in Joliet, St. Joes and Holy Cross. Around St. Joes there are also numerous medical clinics.

As far as a place to stay I would look on the west side of town. Near and in the city of Crest Hill is a pretty nice but older area. Any thing along I-55 and north of I-80 will be newer and relatively nice.
Move to the city on da northside thats where the money and JOBS are
When you get there join a few groups(church) or other stuff you like to do. go to pole day at the track and meet people..(july 13th) many bolwing alleys around join a league..Silver Cross Hospital is the biggest hopsital in Joliet...a few more are around the area In Kankakee is Riverside & St. Mary's I live near Kanakakee and its about 35 miles south of Joliet...but many are in the area of the southwest sub.. of Joliet and Chicago is only 90 min or so ride by train
The colleges are located on the west side of town, be it St. Francis or Joliet Junior College. They have housing in both areas for students. The Desplaines River runs through Joliet, and divides the East and West sides. It maybe best for you to move close to the school you will be attending, since you are not familiar with the city.

You have two major hospitals, Silver Cross located on the East side is rather large and has been updated tremendously! Alot of growth going on there. Then you have St. Josephs located on the West side.
