Cab from lincoln park to downtown?

Travel Info
How much does a cab from lincoln park (near the zoo) to downtown? And is it safe to travel in cabs around 9 pm?

Travel Tips
Depends what you mean by "downtown" - if it's to the John Hancock Building and the north part of Michigan Avenue, it'll be quite cheap - perhaps $7.00. If you mean all the way into the Loop, perhaps $15.00. Either way, it'll be quite safe - there are cabs everywhere around 9 PM, and both areas you're going to are filled with people at all hours.
Others
I agree with Marc W. But at 9pm the buses and El are still full of people, and safe.

If you use a cab make sure it's a licensed one.
All cabs in Chicago must be licensed, and they're safe. That area in general is safe anyway - the Gold Coast is in between Lincoln Park and downtown.

If you're heading to the Loop be sure to tell the cabbie to take Lake Shore Drive. It's MUCH faster!
Catch a bus or train instead, save lots of money
