Where does the south loop start and in in chicago? |
Travel Info I need the streets north, east, south, and west Travel Tips The South Loop is pretty much bordered by Congress Parkway on the north side, about as far as Cermak on the south end, Lake Shore Drive on the east and Canal on the West. The south boundry of the South Loop has been extended a bit because of all the condo development heading in that direction. It used to be assumed that it ended at Roosevelt Road, but the People buying the condos, lofts, etc. south of that want to have a classy address name so they've take to calling their neighborhood part of the south Loop. Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/chicago_loo... Other Travel Tips It's a little vague, but you could make a good argument for Congress on the north, the lake on the east, Cermak on the south and Halsted on the west. The South Loop is bordered on the north by Roosevelt Road, on the east by Michigan Avenue, on the south by 18th Street and on the west by Union Avenue These answers are all incorrect. The loop is the area bounded by the "L" tracks on all four sides. The North is Lake Street. The East is Wabash. The South is Van Buren. The West is Wells. Now if you are talking "downtown" then, yes, the area would be larger but the real Loop is what I described above. It starts around 22nd street also known as Cermak and runs up to 11th from the lake front (east boundary) all the way over to State (west) although downtown western loop goes further west than State St. The downtown area of Chicago is called "The Loop." Hope this helps some, good day. |
