To live or not to live by Wrigley Field? |
Travel Info I am moving to Chicago and have the option to move in with two cool guys about a block away from Wrigley on Racine and something else (I can't remember) - Anyways, the rent is 750 which includes a parking spot (which I will need). Anyways, do you think this is a good place to live for a 23 year old recent college grad looking to live it up and experience all the Chicago nightlife has to offer. How far am I from a good beach? Any gyms around me? Travel Tips I don't live there, but I know people who do, they've described it as a party neighborhood. A lot of young people, a lot of nightlife. So, I'm assuming you'd like it from your description of yourself. You wouldn't be far from a beach, either, there is a park running all along lake michigan, and you will not be too far from the lake. I'm sure there are gyms; it is an upscale neighborhood. try searching bally's gym, they probably have a gym in the area. Your rent is pretty reasonable for that area, but if budget is a concern, you should know that in less trendy areas you can get a lot lower rent-- I have a two roommates, too, our rent is $300 each (that is low, though, for chicago... we all work for a nonprofit and we're really poor.) but $500 is pretty common with roommates. One downside to wrigleyville that you'll have to deal with all the people coming in for Cub's games if you live that close to Wrigley field. But you'll also be right in the middle of all the excitement. Sounds like a fit for you to me... Others Go for it. That rent is probably a bargain...especially with a pkg space. Ask the new roomates about a nearby gym. The closest beach is a short drive to Montrose AV 2 miles, but Lincoln Park is about 7 blocks. If you have a bike, you'll spend a lot of time there...in fact buy a bike if you don't have one...that will be your gym. Ride it to the beaches. Dang $750 for rent and you living with 2 guys....You need to find another apartment or room to share :).. Theres alot of Nightlife around there just go up to Clark and Addison or Belmont. The beach is about an mile from that location just go east. For as gyms it's alot around that way.....trust me ...Go check out this website for Chicago nightlife...www.metromix.com..... for as apartments go... check out craigslist. That's an excellent location. Wrigleyville is filled with post-college types, you're right between Clark and Southport, which are filled with bars and restaurants, and that rent is quite good considering it includes a parking spot. There's a Bally's at Clark and Diversey, perhaps three quarters of a mile away, and several other gyms nearby. You're a bit of a distance from the beach - perhaps a mile - but the bus will take you there very fast, or you can bike there. I'd take it. First of all you have a great rent and a parking spot. That's rare in Wrigleyville where you need a permit to park within a 3 mile radius of the ball park. Second, Wrigleyville has the best nightlife for a recent grad opposed to the posh style of Rush St. Third and finally, you're about a mile away from the beach. Very walk/run-able with many gyms nearby on Broadway or Xsport fitness on Clark or Ashland. I live near Wrigleyville. |
