Contrary to popular thought it's not from the wind off the lake. It's called that from all the wind generated by the crooked politicians talking decades ago.
Well, I always heard the word "Chicago" is an Indian word meaning "stinking onion" because of the wild onion plants that grew here before the city was formed.
