Going to Chicago in July?

Travel Info
Im taking two kids 12 and 11 a boy and girl. I will not have a car so I will have to take taxis. Any sugestions on what I can do with them so they will have a good time? Staying very close to Michigan Ave.

Travel Tips
Manonthestreet said exactly what I would have said, but I would have added Rainforest Cafe, if they've never been to one. Also, if you can swing it, kids that age might enjoy BlueMan group, which is not in that vicinity but you can still get there. There is a website you can to for finding out which busses, trains, etc. to take. I lost the address, but if you go to the CTA site and look for Route finder, it will tell you. I have used it many times to figure out busses within the city.
Others
Don't bother with taxis. Save your money and ride the bus or train. It's only $2 a ride per person and relatively safe and easy to get around. Check out the Chicago Transit Authority website to get an ide of how it works and what the routes are.

That being said, I'd check out Lincoln Park Zoo (it's free), the Garfield Park Conservatory (a big plant house), Navy Pier, the tour boats (at navy Pier and on the River near the Tribune Building), the John Hancock Building and maybe Wrigley Field or White Sox park (if the Cubs or sox are in town, you might be able to get into a game. Try to buy tickets online now.). Also there are three nice museums/etc., right near each other (Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium). They do charge admission, but the city sells discounted passes to all three. I'd also check out bike rentals at Navy Pier or near Buckingham Fountain. It might be fun to rent bikes and take a ride up and down the lakefront bike path if the weather is nice. Good luck.
Take the bus on Michigan Ave (CTA Red Line). Or just walk, it really isn't that bad and it's faster. You will see much more on foot. They will probably want to see the Sears Tower and the Water Tower and Water Tower Place. Michigan Ave is mostly shopping and food.
