Chicago, is it safe for everyone? |
Travel Info Hi, I'm Filipino and I would like to know if I would be safe when visiting Chicago. Are there any Racists over there that might be armed who would target me and possible try to mug me? I heard there was a lot of Racism in Chicago. Esp. Historically between the blacks and the whites. Are ther any neighborhoods I should avoid where someone like me has no business visiting? Will I be accepted over there or will people be very standofish about me being different? How bad is the crime in Chicago? Travel Tips Unfortunately, I was born and raised in the Chicago area. It is a sewer and I sure as heck would not waste my money going there. The suburbs of Chicago are alright for the most part; however, the city itself is a dump. The crime in the city is outrageously high and there are some neighborhoods I would not feel safe in unless I were driving around in an armored Humvee. Chicago has a terrible drug problem along with a high murder rate. Instead of going to Chicago on vacation I would recommend going to a nice city like San Francisco or Portland, Oregon. There are ALWAYS parts of ANY large city that are more dangerous than others, but you will have no reason to find yourself in those areas. I was in Chicago one time and I got mugged. If you're Filipino, I'd be REALLY concerned, because the Black people there like to target White people, Asians and other Blacks. So if you're going to Chicago, go with a large group of people. AND TALK TO NO ONE!!!!!!!!!! hey im from chicago and i haven't expericenced any racism okay get your facts straight or don't come at all. god!!! your an ignorant person really, cause first of all i have a profesor that is fliipino and she never experienced at racism in her part. okay secondly what you think when you get of the plane that therre are gonna be residents that are gonna mug you because your a damn forgein person damn your an *** really don't come we dont need asses like you in our city. bye bye If you are from Chicago and you have not experienced racism, your head is in the sand. One Black moves nearby and all the Whites bail out. Look at Bellwood, Oak Park, Maywood as examples. In the 60s, the Gaylords attempted to maintain the NW side as all white and failed. There are very few "mixed" neighborhoods in Chicago. Look around. |
