There will be plenty of stores (with billboard advertisements) and you can purchase them as soon as you leave Chicago / Illinois and enter Indiana. Fireworks are illegal in Chicago. Others Navy Pier Go buy some in Indiana..Dont get caught though. Fireworks are Illegal in Illinois. You would have to crossthe border into Indiana. They are illegal in Chicago. But be careful because the police watch and if you are caught bringing them across state lines they will confiscate your car just like you were selling drugs. I know, I live in Il but work in IN. The cops look at the plates of the cars at the Fireworks stores and then follow them. I buy them, then go to work and hide them in my desk for a few days before I bring them home. I get mine from Indiana. Theyre illegal in Illinois. Northwest Indiana...as we get closer to the 4th, fireworks stands and stores will open up to sell their wares. As soon as you enter Indiana you will see any number of stores/stands for fireworks but only the bigger stores that are open all year will have the more sophisticated pyrotechnic stuff. I do forewarn you that you are taking a risk bringing fireworks into Illinois....I live close to the Indiana border so the cops don't bother here as much but if you live closer to downtown or points north, you run the risk of getting caught.
