Safe and convenient place in chicago? |
Travel Info I'm interested in knowing if there is a place in chicago where one can live in a reasonable apartment which is close to a primary/ secondary school, catholic church, gorcery, and a hospital/ clinic? My husband and I will be moving in the place with a 1 year old baby. My concern is safety and immediate convenience of the family while adjusting to the place. Any suggestion is very much appreciated. Thanks! Travel Tips I live on the Northwest Side (Norwood Park / Edison Park) within Chicago city limits. This area is the safest in the City of Chicago. Many police and firemen live here to fulfill their residency requirements and thus criminals do not come here to rob or commit other crimes for fear of reprisal. There are several excellent public and Catholic schools in this neighborhood. Park Ridge / Niles has a better high school district (vs. Taft) but there are good Catholic High Schools as well (St. Patrick HS, Resurrection, Notre Dame). Resurrection Hospital is in the neighborhood and Lutheran General is a 5 - 10 minute drive and is one of the best hospitals in the state. I am a fourth generation resident of Chicago. Source(s): Crime Index by Neighborhood (Page 20 of 56): http://egov.cityofchicago.org/webportal/... Chicago Catholic School test scores: http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/c... Chicago Public School Test Scores (Iowa Test - 2005): http://research.cps.k12.il.us/export/sit... Edgebrook - 97.3 percentile Edison - 98.2 percentile Norwood Park - 92.2 percentile Oriole Park - 95.7 percentile Wildwood - 95.4 percentile Other Travel Tips wow , my home town.. well Lincoln park, wrigleyville are both nice areas. but if you want a more family oriented and quiet area i would say the Ravens wood or Edge water areas or even the Jefferson park area. All these areas are close to the Train stations ( Brown line and Blue lines) and very convenient into getting into downtown whenever you want... Enjoy the city.. ( I miss it, but love my new City Barcelona, Spain) eat a few hot dogs and sliders for me PLEASE! he he take care! Bcn_mimosa From Barcelona Move to Naperville. It's about 30 minutes from Chicago. It was rated #2 city to live in within the U.S. for various reasons. Low crime/Clean/Shopping/Schools. I recently moved to Aurora, Illinois which is Naperville's neighbor and I have no complaints. I don't know if you need to move to chicago or not. If not, I would check out the surrounding communities. Lincoln Park, East Lakeview areas should meet your needs i'd say the edgewater area definately its by schools, hospitals and is safe just move on sheridan!Sheridan is very safe but dont go on winthrop.. You should try Lincoln Square i live there now and i have been for all of my life....it great i wont wanna move even if i had too |
